Three Major Bars In Leeds Shut Down

Shooters, Bierkeller and  Smokin’ Bar & Kitchen in Leeds have been forced to shut down after the company that own the bars were not able to secure a permanent tenancy.

The owners of the chain went into administration five months ago but were able to get a temporary tenancy for the buildings whilst they tried to sort out their problems. The bars officially shut down just under a month ago after the company had their permanent tenancy application refused by the landlord.

Shooters was a popular bar amongst all sports fans for the wide variety of live sport that they showed and the cheap alcohol for the students of Leeds. During Champions League nights, Shooters was always packed full of people who were there to gather around the big screens to watch the game with friends. Cameron Dunn, 20, who lives in Leeds was a regular at Shooters and told us: “ The closure is a real shame because sports bars as good as Shooters are a rarity.”

With the football season coming to an end and the stakes as high as ever in the Premier League, this would have been a busy time for Shooters. Unfortunately for the regulars of the popular sports bar, they are going to have to search for another bar that shows live sport in order for them to have their regular football fix. One of the alternatives for live sport in Leeds is Dry Dock. The authentic ‘boat bar’ is located on Woodhouse Lane and has been described as a “narrow pub serving food in a boat on land, with a polished, dark wood bar and stripped wood floor”.

We’ve sourced alternative venues from which to watch live sports.

Dry Dock show all of the live Premier League games that are being broadcasted on Sky Sports and even have two Play Station 4’s set up to play FIFA 19 on with your friends after the games have finished.

Roxy Lanes is another option for people wanting to watch live sport and is nearby to Leeds train station. The bowling venue has a classy but relaxed atmosphere and is a perfect place to watch sport because they have multiple screens on the walls that show a variety of sports. The drinks prices are reasonable and even though Shooters has been described as “one of a kind with an amazing atmosphere”, Roxy Lanes is definitely a good alternative for those who love their live sporting action.
